What will you visit?

Croatia

Croatia is known for its beaches, with close to 2,500 miles of coastline between its islands and the mainland. Croatia's major coastal cities, including Split and Dubrovnik, are within easy reach of some top beaches, such as Porec and Rovinj.

Porec

The beauty of Poreč is sometimes covered up by crowds that flock from all over the world to enjoy the well known hospitality and attentive service this Istrian jewel is known for. But the beauty is there and it has been there since ancient times. If you look carefully, you will see the remains of ancient Rome in the 2000 year old stone paved thoroughfare of Decumanus, the Marafor square and the ruins of the temples of Neptune and Mars. In the harbour you find evidence of the Venetian dominance dating back to the 18th century, when Poreč was ruled by Napoleon and the Habsburgs. The Venetians built the town wall in the 15th century, stretching from the harbourside Round Tower (now a bar), to the inland Pentagonal Tower (now a restaurant). Up until the middle of the 20th century a number of governments, monarchs and states changed hands. The area of Poreč was ruled by Ostrogoths, was the seat of Frankish rule, Aquileian Patriarchs, the Venetian Republic, Austria, Napoleon's Illyrians and the Kingdom of Italy. In 1943 Poreč and the rest of Istria were joined to Croatia, a constituent state of Yugoslavia which in 1990 became an independent state. Poreč has one of the most magnificent early Byzantine churches in Europe called Euphrasius' Basilica after Euphrasius, the Bishop of Poreč who in the 6th century commissioned the building of a grandiose three-nave basilica on the site of an earlier church.

Motovun

Motovun is a captivating little walled town perched on a 277 m hill in the Mirna River valley. The setting is astonishingly, gorgeous and a large part of its appeal is in the lost-in-time views over the verdant valley, with the town rising above it like something from a fairy tale. The damp, dark Motovun Forest at its base also has a mythical quality, especially as it contains hidden treasure in the form of Istria's famous truffles.

Motovun is a picturesque town located on a hill in central Istria, above the middle part of the Mirna river valley. The area is a popular excursion point. Local people are engaged in winemaking, local varieties of Malvasia and Teran wines are well known.

Motovun is a typical example of a medieval town, which developed on the remains of a prehistoric fort.

Champion race driver Mario Gabriele Andretti was born in Motovun on 28 February 1940. After World War II he moved to Italy and in 1964 he obtained American citizenship. He won the Cart-Champcar Car Series in 1965, 1966, 1969 and 1984; and in 1969 he also won the Indianapolis 500. He became Formula One champion in 1978 driving a Lotus-Ford F1 racing car.

Rovinj

Is one of the most popular and most developed tourist resorts in Croatia. The old town is built on the island, which was only connected with the mainland in the 18th century. Known as one of the most picturesque and romantic towns on Mediterranean.

The Old Town of Rovinj rises up on a peninsula and is a witness to times gone by and valuable accomplishments of its past artisans. The limited space led to the construction of narrow buildings, streets and small town squares. Of particular interest in this town centre are the characteristically designed chimneys. The town itself was declared a cultural monument in 1963.

Groznjan

Pretty as a picture on a postcard, situated on a romantic hillside surrounded by the peaceful Istrian landscapes, Grožnjan will make you feel as if you were in a fairy tale.

The town of artists, where every rock is like an oil painting will inspire you with its dazzling energy.
